Harm Reduction

Harm reduction is a long-standing and seriously held part of rave culture: the point is that partying shouldn’t come at the cost of your long-term health. This category holds the products that aren’t about the look, but about protection.

The most common and most underestimated risk is hearing damage. In front of a festival stage, sound pressure is regularly 100–110 dB, where damage is measured in hours. The good news is that it’s the one risk you can almost entirely eliminate with a single, cheap item: filtered earplugs, which cut the volume while leaving the character of the music intact.

Beyond that, the most important things at a festival aren’t products at all: drink water regularly, take breaks away from the speakers, and don’t leave your mate on their own. PLUR — Peace, Love, Unity, Respect — isn’t just a slogan: a community looking out for each other is what prevents most of the trouble.
